Product Owner

The term Product Owner (abbreviated PO) refers to a specific role in the Scrum framework. The Product Owner is the visionary of the product, who continuously monitors the development from the business side and sets the direction. One of the responsibilities of the Product Owner is to create the product vision and communicate it consistently in all directions. He is the interface between all stakeholders involved with the product and the development team. Specifically for the Scrum process, he writes User Stories and acceptance criteria in tickets and prioritizes them in a Product Backlog.

The Product Owner is an important role in agile software development, particularly in the Scrum process. The Product Owner is responsible for maximizing the value of the product and meeting customer requirements.

Within the Scrum process, the Product Owner works closely with the development team to ensure that the end product meets customer requirements and provides high value. The Product Owner is responsible for defining product requirements, setting priorities, and maintaining the backlog.

At Ambient, the role of the PO is primarily taken on by the customer, as they know the business side best and are most connected with the stakeholders. In some rare cases, however, we also appoint a so-called Proxy PO, who then takes on the main responsibilities of the PO. However, we strongly recommend establishing the PO role with the customer.
