The backend is the invisible area of the application, where the functions of the program are developed. In contrast to the visible frontend applications, backends are responsible for the acquisition, processing, and analysis of data.
A web-based backend typically consists of three components: web server, web application, and database.
In nearly every one of our projects, a well-structured, powerful, and at the same time intuitive and lean backend is the foundation of the application.
We have had very good experiences in our projects with symfony (PHP), django (Python), and Node.JS (JavaScript).
The Backend - Powerful in the Background
A modern backend requires extensive functionality. However, intuitive operation remains the priority and is complemented by user-friendly presentation.
Every application needs a backend for data processing and storage. Its functionalities vary depending on the software, app, or website.
One backend area that many have seen is a content management system (CMS) of a website. Here, posts can be created, photos can be uploaded, and the design of the page can be changed.
The counterpart to the backend is called "Frontend". This is where the commands from the backend are executed, creating the "visible application" for the user.
