Legacy software at Plantion analysed at record speed

A high-performing, deeply integrated software system that has been the backbone of a company for years. But technology moves forward, and even the strongest foundations can quietly become a liability. As the system ages, so does the knowledge that keeps it running.

For many organisations, this is a roadblock for innovation.

Plantion is committed to staying ahead, and to serving its customers as well as they possibly can. That commitment led to a clear decision: it was time to modernize. The one non-negotiable condition? The transition could not put business continuity at risk.

The challenge

In the fast-moving horticulture, standing still means falling behind. Plantion faced a challenge: their critical software had grown outdated and keeping it running was becoming increasingly fragile.

Modernizing the IT landscape was necessary, but how do you tackle such a massive transformation without disrupting daily operations, where thousands of flowers and plants change hands every day?

Traditionally, modernisation projects like this take months - sometimes years - to even get off the ground. Teams are required to manually work through tens of thousands of lines of code, piecing together the underlying logic line by line. It is a process that is not only time-consuming and costly, but also highly prone to error.

The approach

Our software architects have designed a groundbreaking solution that fundamentally changes the way migrations like this are approached.

They built an AI engine and set it to work on Plantion's legacy system. It dove deep into the codebase, uncovering the secrets buried within the software, from the finest details to the overarching processes. In total, 353,702 lines of code were analysed!

Working alongside the AI engine, our architects were able to map the system's complete logic and all of its hidden complexity at remarkable speed gaining a level of insight that would have taken a traditional approach months or years to achieve.

The result

Instead of a lengthy and uncertain analysis process, Plantion now has a clear roadmap, achieved in a fraction of the time. That significant time saving is a direct result of applying AI in a smart, purposeful way.

With our AI engine in place, legacy software is no longer a challenge for Plantion. Critical knowledge is secured, documentation is kept up to date, and the foundation is set for a confident step forward.

The analysis is complete and the direction is clear. Now it is time to build a system that does not just work today, but one that holds up tomorrow, ready to meet new challenges and support growing ambitions.

Building resilience through smart choices

With the right expertise and smart technology, renewal can be achieved faster and more smoothly than you expect.

The approach our architects have developed applies to almost all legacy systems and programming languages. That means you can reduce your dependence on outdated technology and fading in-house knowledge more quickly, more intelligently, and more safely than ever before.

If your organisation is running on systems that have seen better days, now is the time to act. Don't wait until the pressure becomes a crisis. The technology is ready, and so are we.
